"My passion comes from wanting to make a difference. I'm not here to save the world, I'm here to make a difference. One little sparkle will make a difference for me throughout the day. When I get bogged down I take 20 minutes to go see the children so you don't forget what you are doing all this for." Ray Hernandez, Executive Director, School of Early Childhood Education, University of Southern California
Hi Machaela, I chose a similar quote form Raymond Hernandez as well. I like this quote as it reminds us that all we can do is try to make a difference, that we are not super heroes wearing a cape and mask trying to save everyone. I can relate to this quote as I feel that I am not trying to be "Super Teacher." I just want to see that same sparkle that Hernandez refers to in his quote with the students I teach. To see that after a class discussion that they get what it is that I am trying to teach them. I can't expect every student who finishes my class will "get it" but if I can get some, then I know that I am making a difference. It is rewarding to know that we can make a difference in some and makes us work harder knowing that it just might take a little more effort to get others.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever feel that in your role you sometimes feel like you are a super hero?
Take care,
Stephanie
Hi Machaela
ReplyDeleteThe quote you picked is very true for me. I just love going back into the classrooms and seeing the joys from a child. That makes me happy because I am helping to make a difference in a child's life.
